Prof. Ankur Gupta is the Director at the Model Institute of Engineering and Technology (MIET), Jammu, India, besides being a Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering. Prior to joining academia, he worked as Technical Team Lead at Hewlett Packard India and USA, developing software in the network management and e-Commerce domains. He obtained his B.E (Hons.) Computer Science and MS Software Systems degrees from BITS, Pilani and PhD from the National Institute of Technology, Hamirpur.
He is a serial innovator, with 2 patents granted and 28 patents pending at the Indian Patents Office. He has published 75 peer-reviewed papers in reputed international journals and conferences and is a recipient of the AICTE's Career Award for Young Teachers, awarded to promising researchers under the age of 35 on a nationally competitive basis. He is the Founding Managing Editor of the International Journal of Next-Generation Computing IJNGC. He is a senior member of the ACM, senior member IEEE and a life-member of the Computer Society of India.
He has received competitive grants over INR 2.5 Crores from various funding agencies besides faculty awards from IBM and EMC. He is the inventor of Performance Insight 360 (PI-360), a quality analytics framework for higher education, which received the Quality Council of India's D.L Shaw Platinum Award, Startup Board Award at the India Innovation Initiative and the New Code of Education Award. He has also promulgated the Simplified Strategic Management Framework (SSMF), which is a checklist-based approach for implementing strategic management in resource-constrained educational environments.
